FAQ

  • YES! your pet will need to be fasted for 8 hours prior, water is fine to have, no food! If your pet takes any medication a treat or two is fine to give. No full meals!

  • We ask that owners not be present during abdominal ultrasound imaging. Keeping the exam room quiet and calm helps reduce stress for your pet and allows the sonographer to obtain clear, accurate images. Having fewer people in the room improves safety and efficiency during these steps.

  • Typically no sedation is needed.

If you think your pet may get too stressed, have behavioral concerns when being handled by veterinary staff or may have a difficult time staying still during the imaging. Please discuss sedation medication with your referring veterinarian.

  • Our doctor performing the ultrasound will send a detailed report back to your referring veterinarian, no interpretation will be offered by ACSH at this time.

  • Any follow up care would be done by your referring veterinarian.
